Welcome to the Days Off Calculator

New to the calculator? For a general introduction to the Days Off Calculator and what it does, visit the about-the-calculator page.

In addition to this Mac version of the calculator, there is also a Web version, which includes many of the calculation and reporting options of the Mac version. The Web version runs inside your browser. There is no special download required; it simply appears as any other Web page. Like the Mac version, the Web version is free. We suggest that you try the Web version first, then return here to download the Mac version if you like what you see. You can also check the version comparison page to decide which version is right for you.

The calculator is freeware. You can download it free. There is no registration; we don't collect any information about you. This is not a demo or trial version - it's the full program. The calculator requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later, and about 2.6 megabytes of disk space. It will run on either PowerPC or Intel Macs. It is not a Universal Binary, but that is planned for a future version. There is no "adware" or "spyware" embedded in the program. We don't track your use of it in any way.

The current Mac version of the calculator is version 5.1. If you've used a previous version, check our what's new page for a list of some of the new features in version 5.1.

Download the calculator

The download is about 1.4 megabytes in size. At typical dial-up modem speeds, it will take about 5 minutes.

Installation and uninstallation

To install the calculator: The file you downloaded is a disk image. When you open the disk image, you will see one file - Days Off Calculator.app (depending on your system preferences, the ".app" may not show). This file is the calculator. Drag it to your Applications folder, or to any other folder from which you wish to use it. Once you've verified that the calculator is working, you can eject the disk image, and move the download to the Trash.

As you use the calculator, it does create a few small files: Days.ini to hold your settings, days51help.html which contains the calculator's help information and which is created the first time you use the Help menu, and Daysdata.txt to hold employee names and shift data if you enter these. All of these files are stored in the same folder as the calculator itself.

To uninstall the calculator, just drag it to the Trash. It's also safe to get rid of Days.ini, as well as days51help.html if it exists. Any employee names and shift data you've entered are stored in Daysdata.txt, so if you need to retain that information, keep that file.
